Avon Mega Effects Mascara

Chances are, you've heard a thing or two about Avon's latest mascara. Yes, the Mega Effects Mascara has been generating a lot of buzz lately! With its unique packaging and application method, it is no wonder. Whether you're a beauty blogger or just love trying out new makeup products, this mascara may be something to add to your wish list. It's time to take a closer look and find out: is it worth the hype?.
Let's start by taking a look at the claims. According to Avon, the Mega Effects Mascara's untraditional brush (which has been dubbed the Wonderbrush) "delivers 40% more mascara to the lashes." If that wasn't enough, this mascara also gives you dramatic lashes that last for up to 24-hours. It is meant to be a clump-proof, sweat-proof, flake-proof, and smudge free product.

What makes this mascara so different from the rest on the market has less to do with the mascara itself and more to do with the way it goes on. Instead of using a standard mascara wand, it has a long thick paintbrush type of applicator. Plus, the handle itself can bend to make it easier to apply the product evenly.

So, what did I think of the applicator? It was different - and heck, a bit tricky to get the hang of at first! It took me a couple of minutes to get into the swing of things. Once I did, though, it worked out really well. The thick paintbrush applicator really did make it easier to coat the lashes. It allowed more of the product to go on, yet it didn't get clumpy like a lot of other affordable mascaras out there. I really liked that the handle was bendable, too. I can definitely see this working well for a lot of different eye shapes.

Now for my thoughts on the mascara itself. There are aspects that I like and things that I wasn't quite so crazy about. Let's start with the positives: how well it lengthens and the staying power. One coat of this mascara and my lashes looked crazy long! It didn't do a ton of terms of thickening, but the length was gorgeous. Plus, it lasted all day and all night. (Which is always a good thing!)

As for the negatives, there is only one: it's a super wet formula. That means it takes a really long time to dry completely and tends to transfer onto the eyelid. This is a personal preference though, as I am not a fan of wet mascara formulas in general. If this doesn't bother you, you'll probably love everything about this!

Overall, I was quite pleased with this product. Avon's Mega Effects Mascara is new, exciting, and totally re-defines mascara application. If you're still searching for a great (and affordable!) option, don't forget about Avon.

  1. I tried this mascara and did not like it at all. I did not like the big paint brush as I call it and the packaging was messy! I threw mine out.
