Do you know what an average face/body scrub from the drugstore costs? Let's say roughly $7. Now let's do a little math. If you use that generously scrub twice a week, it's going to last you about two months. So, you'll be buying six bottles of scrub per year, meaning you'll spend $42 just on that one product.
$42 on something you'll rub on your skin for a few seconds! That's ridiculous. Don't even get me started on how expensive that would be if you bought it from Sephora. The good news is that you can make your own scrubs of every kind for a few dollars, and it's all natural.
First, you'll need something with a bit of grit to it. Good options are sugar, salt, and baking soda. Whatever you've got on hand. Now you'll need something emollient to mix it with. I like honey and coconut oil best, but almost anything gentle with that consistency will do. The great thing is that DIY scrubs are totally customizable. Whatever you want to use, use it.
Got your ingredients? Good. Mix them together. You can adjust the amounts to your personal preferences, but a 1:1 ratio is a good place to start. Once that's done, you can go crazy with extra things like essential oils, crushed flower petals, or even oatmeal.
Store your mixture in a jar and enjoy yourself! Let me know in the comments what your favorite combinations are! I made the one pictured above with sugar, honey, oatmeal, and lavender essential oil.
