As a retired sailor and Beauty O'holic writer, I could not be any more excited to interest you in Nautical theme week. Natural tans, sun tossled hair, glistening skin - and yet, the fear of makeup not lasting from the time you set sail to docking your boat. There's nothing better than being on the open water - maybe except for looking better than the water itself. Follow these simple instructions mixed with our favorite makeup brands for the sophisticated and sassy sailor girl.
You can play up your eyes and lips as much or as little as you want, we suggest choosing a shade that compliments your skin tone, but more importantly your personality. A deep blue shade looks perfect with all eye colors, and a cherry red lip will keep your kisser in check. Start with an eye/lip primer. We love BH Cosmetics eye and lip primer, $10. One pot for both uses, a girl can't go wrong.
Use MAC Eyeshadow to guarantee a highly pigmented hue on your eyes. Follow the crease of your eye making it darker along the crease and lighter on the lid. For $15, you will have a shadow that will last until next summer!
Now, onto your lips. One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that a girls lips are too big or too small to wear bold colors. WRONG! A strong red looks amazing on all you Beauty O'holic's. Keep your pucker in place by applying that primer, then massaging with MAC's highly pigmented rouge shade, $15.
When playing up eyes and pumping up lips, keep your face makeup to a minimum. Cover blemishes and set with a powder. Keep makeup in tact by using Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, $14 and set sail!
