One of my favorite things about the Wizard of Oz is Glinda the Good Witch's makeup. Particularly the fact that even though her makeup is totally matte, she has just the slightest glow on her cheekbones and nose. It's enough of a highlight that her skin looks dewy, but not enough that there's an "OH MY GOD, SHE'S SPARKLING" factor.
So I took matters into my own hands and tried to recreate that elusive subtle glow.
You will need:
- A small container to hold your DIY highlighter
- Tinted moisturizer
- Thick, untinted moisturizer
- Several Q-Tips
- A semi-matte peach eye shadow
- A shimmery white eye shadow
- A light, shimmery beige
Step 1. Squirt a quarter-sized glob of tinted moisturizer into your container.
Step 2. Pull the cotton off a Q-Tip. Use the now-blunt end of the Q-Tip to crush up about half of each eye shadow. Dump it into the container.
Step 3. Add in a large glob of untinted moisturizer. The more moisturizer you add, the more "subtle" the highlighter will be.
Step 4. Using another Q-Tip, swirl all the ingredients around until you have a smooth, thick consistency. Make sure there are no large chunks of eye shadow in the mix.
It should look like this:
Enjoy your new highlighter!
