Dip Dyed Hair, Ombre and Hair Extensions
Those were the days when the only people you would see with colored dyed hair were grunge kids and scene girls and boys. It's gone from being an underground look to going main stream.
According to Prada, Autumn/Winter 2012-13 has a new hair trend...Dip-Dyed Hair.
Dip-dye is a hair trend that has now transcended to the Prada catwalk,
styled by the biggest fashion hairdresser in the world
Depending on how far you are willing to go, a dip-dye can suit nearly every hair color - it is just how far or how bold that you want to be when you lighten the end.
Even celebrities have picked up this latest trend, such as Jessie J and Drew Barrymore.
This French-termed hair trend featuring darker roots with gradually-dyed lightening at the ends.
As you can recreate this trend for yourself, check out your favorite salon to see if they are able to work with you. Not many salons will work with the latest trends; you don't want an untrained stylist working on your hair, do you?
There are two things you need to consider before getting this hair.
First, consider your profession and future aspirations before you go with the bolder shades. A trend that essentially looks like "grown out" color, which, thankfully, makes it easier on those of us who just don't have the time to go to the salon every few weeks for a retouch. Remember, the more creative a person chooses to be with their color shading, the more attention they may require.
Next, choose shades that will compliment your skin tone as well as wardrobe choices. A person can choose one to three colors to shade for the Ombre effect.
For the warmer months, shoot for lighter, more vibrant shades and in the winter months, choose cooler, more ash tones.
Dark Chocolate Beauty: Deep reds, coppers, and cool ash make for beautiful choices.
Carmel-Coated Lovely: Rich browns, coppers, possibly even violets (depending on your career character).
Fair Maiden: Ash tones, subdued blondes, golden caramel tones will add warmth to her olive skin.
This style of coloring really became more popular when Nicki Minaj began rocking colored wigs that vary from purple to pink, lime green to blonde, and even royal blue faded to a touch of blonde on the ends. But, she didn't stop there. Now, we see her releasing the leopard within her.
You can get this look by:
Clip in Extensions: You can either buy pre-colored extensions from Hot Topic or eBay for example. Or, you can buy blonde extensions and dye them yourself (with what ever colors you want of course).
Spray/Comb in Color, that washes out. It can be completely removed in just one wash, great for those who are unsure if they will like it or not.
So there is just a little inspiration, if you want the real thing but want to get it done, talk to your hairdresser about trying it out. Always use the best shampoo and conditioners and other treatments to maintain your color. If you do try it, please share!
See you next time,
