Fashion Budget

Fashion Budget

At some point during college life, you'll face an important choice: buy clothes or books? Since books are non-negotiable in college, if you want you to get the most out of your money, you need to know where to shop.

There are tons of discount stores out there, but which are worth shopping at? Which are cheap, price and clothing wise?
If you have champagne taste on a beer budget, discount clothing stores aren't going to cut it. You need to shop at the right places.

This countdown of stores will help, they never let me down! Awesome prices, great clothing and no one will ever know the difference!

Should be marked 'Wet Steal' because I have gotten so many great steals from this store alone over the years. It's available in every mall in America, a great place to shop for the latest trends to wear to parties, has some great jewelry and other great accessories. It reminds me of Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe.
As they say on Project Runway, the fashion know how to separate chic and adorable from tacky and awful.  The pieces are all mixed together in this store, so it is important to know the difference between what's trashy and what's not.

If you are ever looking for shoes, shoes and more shoes, DSW is your store! DSW stands for Discount Shoe Warehouse. Warehouse is right, they have shoes from wall to wall. It's HEAVEN! I have to comment on the prices: some are great, others are not so cheap.  DSW has a wider selection and more options than Payless.

This is my favorite store for girly dresses and trendy pieces, as well as the occasional accessory.  Charlotte Russe is more organized than Forever 21 and Wet Seal, unless you go to the clearance rack, then everything is mixed together.

Inventor of the designer knockoff.  It is one of the most popular discount clothing stores in America, also found in almost every mall. Just line Charlotte Russe and Wet Seal, they do have the occasional trashy, cheaply made clothing in stock. I'm sure every store does in malls. Just remember, don't buy anything you won't wear more than a handful of times.
Vintage/Thrift Stores: What budget fashion shopping list would be complete without some vintage stores? They are the best place to find one of a kind pieces, fashion treasures, and unexpected style...all at extremely low prices. Like...can we say *CHA-CHING*!  Sometimes it can be dangerous to your wallet to shop there if you don't know what you're doing.
When you shop the real thrift stores, your college budget will go a long way.  You need to be careful with your money. Know how to find 'amazing finds' from the 'I'm just buying it because it's cheap' stuff.

Also known as Hennes & Mauritz - true fashion paradise.
Whether you're looking to buy a trendy item to wear for the current season, or a classic piece that will last you years, H&M is a great place to start.  They really have EVERYTHING you might want.
Their clothes look like they came straight from runway!
See you next time,
HJ
Happy Shopping!
